So I had the day off of clinical today which was spectacularly relaxing but I feel like I got zero done.
Thats not entirely true…
I did make a nonThursday thrift store trip to try to get some of the ever popular rolled up trousers
Ignore all the weird thigh bumpiness. The shirt underneath kept getting bunched up. Both pair need a smidgen of tailoring but for $3 each its way better than a $75 pair from jcrew. Especially when the black pair are Ralph Lauren and the gray ones are Hillard & Hansen. Not too bad. I also bought the striped tee its pictured with as I watched Coco Avant Chanel and have neen dying for some simple striped tops!
I also did a lot of work on the Velvet Snow dress.
I traced a previous pattern in order to make a new neckline and armholes. I cut the sleeves off of the original dress and took them in a bit and reattached it to the new dress. I ended up hemming it a few inches shorter and taking the sides in more.
After getting the dress base all ready I used some fabric tape to map out how big I wanted the bib to be.
I have attached the bib and have the collar all set to attach and I think in the long run I will forgo the cuffs just cus im lazy and I don’t think the dress needs anything else.
Man! How I wish I could refashion clothes like you do!!
I’m following your blog for quite a while now, but I am more the silent reader type 😉
I love your refashioning and kind of do the same (not as much as you, but I am getting to it ^^) unfortunately in germany the secondhand shops are just a tiny bit more pricy.
Anyhow, I wanted to ask you whether there is a tutorial for the so much loved peter pan collar or if you can make a little tutorial (I don’t have any pattern, so I needed something totally from scratch)
Cheers,
Julia
I’d be happy to do a post on how I made my collar. Its not a very official way to do it but it gets the job done!
yayh =)
how cool is that,
thank you!
I love this so much already! Great inspiration, and it’s almost there! WOW You’re so cool and you just keep getting cooler!
I’m the same as Kelly (above comment) I wish I could refash as much and as well as you do it!
You are amazing! Me too, How I wish I could refashion like you…
Ooh the dress looks fab already 🙂 and damn you for looking so good in those trousers – I’ve been angling after a pair, even have a pattern in a BurdaStyle mag that I could use, but I can’t help feeling that I look utterly ridiculous in the things. I tried a pair on in Zara for research purposes and I looked positively awful, but they were a lot baggier at the top.
Love your shoes too!
Ya I was super worried about the trousers making me look hideously wide in the hip area and let me tell you I tried like 10 pairs on and ended up with two pairs that need tailoring. You may just need to keep searching. and thanks about the shoes. You will probably see a lot more of these babies they are my steady summer shoes!
Those pants look adorable on you.
