Finally finished up this dress… only took me about 3 zippers to do so
If you read about this dress to begin with you will recall that I scored this fabric which was approximately 3 yards in length for a cool buck at Goodwill and Im sure someone out there is thinking to themselves right now that “hey this girl matches my Grandma Mabel’s couch” and they may be right but I like it. So this dress would have only cost me about $3 to make but after all those zipper incidents it totalled up at about $7 which is still not too bad.
I love the idea of a white coat in winter like she wears in the movie… only problem is here in Arizona no one needs a coat in winter so this baby will go up in my shop this weekend.
Just go ahead and ignore that alfalfa sprout because I wanted to show you the rolled style collar which goes into a v in the back.
Now all I need is to head off to London with my new dress!
You make the cutest things!

I like the roses on the fabric!
gorgeous!!
love it!!!
doesn’t look like a $3(or $7) dress at all!
You look like an adorable alfalfa. Love the dress!
AMAZING! You did such a brilliant job. Love the bargain fabric! I’ve been a bit disenchanted with sewing over the past couple of days. The dress I’m currently working on has so far cost $100 to make and I need some ribbon for it now so it is going to cost even more. ggrrrr. NOT happy. I thought sewing was supposed to be cheap!!
but of course it means so much more after all the work and money!
i love all your diy projects! you are so stylish. xx
Looks great, esp. with the ivory coat! Nice job — I need to go see that movie but I get kind of weirded out by Peter Saarsgard sometimes. LOL
this movie will not help.. hes a bit strange in it lol
adore this! love the pattern and that the zipper cost more than the dress. now i have to see this movie.
This looks lovely – love the simple style and what great fabric. Well done. Another great addition to your wardrobe.
LOVE that coat! As I am MA and it is FREEZINg here, I was wondering what size it is?
I’ve been following your blog since I saw your first post at WR–love your style and your refashions are GREAT!!
Hey, good luck in nursing school. I have been an RN for almost 24 years but i still sometime have nightmares about school-lol!

love your style! (and your hair) 🙂 but i’m jealous of anyone these days who has a ‘hairstyle’
my hairstyle is ‘mom’ down and brushed (what an accomplishment that is!) or ponytail
Great job! Love your blog, stumbled across it recently! x
I love the dress, do you take your pictures yourself or do you recruit a friend to take them, i’m currently having issues with lighting and recruiting a photog 😦
I usually recruit a wall ledge or some creepily tall stack of books to be my photographer.. im always jealous of those girls who have awesome boyfriends to take all their pics.
Just came across your blog via burdastyle. I like that you like grandma goodwill fabric. I am such a sucker for thrify fabric that looks like curtains! Anyway, just thought I’d leave a comment for a fellow burda style member……….. Dress is hot too. 🙂
thanks so much… im a sucker for the curtain looking fabric and even making things out of curtains! Thanx for heading over from Burdastyle!
Let me start by saying great page. Im not sure if it has been addressed, however when using Opera I can never get the entire blog to load without refreshing alot of times. Maybe just my laptop. Thanks
