Finally after many bleeding fingers and trips to the fabric store I am done…. maybe a day late technically but oh well.
I finished the messenger bag which took freaking forever.
The face of the bag is patchwork and there were so many little pieces that must be pieced together and topstitched. I didn’t cut the strap long enough to begin with as I am not too big a fan of messenger bags and in the end i chopped off another 3 or 4 inches so its now just a shoulder bag.
I love how many pockets this bag has. Two pockets on the back of the bag which will be perfect for keys or a phone that are usually lost in the abyss of my purse and two more matching ones on the inside.
I was pretty worried about this bag as I have never worked on a hangbag that was so complicated (33 PDF pages of directions and pattern pieces to be exact) but I am very pleased with how it turned out.
The foldover clutch was such a breeze compared to the other bag and it came together in less than an hour. The pattern called for a covered button snap sort of thing which I could not get my hands on so instead i used a magnetic snap and a decorative button. Im so in love with this print. If i had a bolt of this fabric I would make everything in sight out of it. I have a small duffel bag cut out of this print which may come up shortly for a project.
